Hello! I actually live north of KCMO... well, north of north kansas city... anyway... but yes I know where you're talking about. I like Kansas City a lot, and it makes me sad that I'm planning to leave ...

The following is from a recent post on my blog, www.chuckscott.blogspot.com. I am convinced that the american dream steals from God. It steals our time from God. It steals our resources from God. It just plain steals us away from God. Desperation for something real is at an all time high, and we are looking to everything else for comfort instead of looking to God.
----------------------------------

What do we need?

We need desperation. I know this from experience. When I have prospered financially I have been lulled into an apathy that gives me a false security in my abilities to take care of things instead of relying on God. I think that most of us can relate to this. The solution is not a vow of poverty, but is a change in perspective. We need to realize how desperate we really are. In an act of desperation we look to other things to relive the day to day concerns. Some find comfort in T.V., living vicariously through lives of make believe people. For some it is food. For others it is pornography, drugs or alcohol. There are some who amass huge collections of stuff that have absolutely no eternal value. There are many other things that steal away our attentions and I encourage you to ask God to search your hearts. The main point though is that there is desperation in all of our lives that can only be healed by God.

We should fix our eyes on Jesus. We are all sick. We all need healing. Until we change our perspective, and realize how desperate we really are, and how much we need God, we will never see true revival.

So, what ails you? It is my prayer that the veil would be removed from our eyes and that we would see ourselves for what we really are — hurting, broken people in desperate need of healing from God.

From the time I was born I have always looked stoned. This worked well for me when I really was stoned. BTW, you look a bit underfed in your picture. You must eat like a bird or something.

I had an extended fast once. I didn't eat for, like, 45 minutes. I was hungry. A were-emu has to keep up his strength, ya know?

That picture was taken during an extended fast. What is scary is that I don't look too much different most of the time.
