Christarchy :: Spring Semester :: Jesus for President

Join us every-other-Tuesday night at 8pm (in AC 329) as we discuss Jesus For President (co-written by Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw). Publisher’s Weekly is calling this subversive tome the “must-read election-year book for Christian Americans.”

We’ll be exploring the introduction and the four sections of the book over the next 4 weeks. You don’t have to read the book to be a part of the conversation:

March 11: Section 1 (before there were kings and presidents)

April 8: Section 2 (a new kind of commander-in-chief)

April 22: Section 3 (when the empire got baptized)

May 6: Section 4 (a peculiar party)

So...

So one of these Tuesdays, I really am going to come experience this Christarchy group at Bethel. Scout's Honor!

The Jesus Manifesto is a webzine that asks "what does it mean to follow Jesus in the shadow of the Empire?"

Anchored in the West Bank of Minneapolis, Missio Dei tries to follow Jesus' way of peace, simplicity, prayer, and hospitality.

Missio Dei offers their breviary (a short book of morning and evening prayers) for free online. The prayers, which are anchored in the four Gospels, repeat each month.

Submergent is a network of leaders who, informed by an Anabaptist vision, are living into the Kingdom of God in a postmodern, post-colonial, post-Christian world. Together, we will re-baptize the Christian imagination!
